The Team

Nate Lum

Principal Exercise Physiologist | Founder of ATHOS

Nate is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and Sport Scientist with ESSA, and the founder of ATHOS Exercise Physiology & Sport Science. With 10 years of clinical experience spanning hospital, private practice, and neurological rehabilitation settings, Nate delivers evidence-based clinical care shaped by over 15 years of gym-based strength and conditioning experience and nearly a decade of coaching and competing in Muay Thai and Boxing under national and world champion coaches. He currently continues his training in Muay Thai, Boxing, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, with a broad movement background that includes soccer, cricket, and circus aerial silks.

Nate specialises in treating individuals with neurological conditions, chronic pain, orthopaedic injuries, and complex presentations within mental health, Workers’ Compensation, and CTP schemes. His clinical approach integrates strength training, combat sports, and functional conditioning to improve clients’ mobility, balance, confidence, and quality of life — especially in complex or neurological presentations.

He currently leads the Knock Out Parkinson’s Disease (KOPD) program as Clinical Lead, overseeing the development and delivery of boxing-based interventions for people living with Parkinson’s and other neurological disorders. Nate was also part of the team that developed the Optimising Exercise for Parkinson’s module for Parkinson’s NSW, now used by allied health professionals across the state.

Kaelyn Rahardja

Senior Exercise Physiologist

Kaelyn is an Exercise Physiologist with a strong background in high-performance sport and rehabilitation. She competed professionally in tennis and has also competed in team sports including basketball, volleyball, and touch football.

Kaelyn coaches boxing-based training, clinical Reformer Pilates, and gym-based strength and conditioning, bringing both athletic and clinical expertise into her work. She currently trains in Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), which informs her movement quality, physical conditioning, and practical coaching approach.

She has experience working with NDIS, WorkCover, post-surgery rehabilitation, and return-to-sport clients, and has a particular professional and personal interest in Parkinson’s disease. As a KOPD coach, Kaelyn is dedicated to empowering people with Parkinson’s to live active, high-quality lives.

Kaelyn’s approach to exercise physiology is holistic, addressing physical, psychological, and lifestyle factors to treat the person as a whole — not just the injury.

Jodie Cheng

Associate Exercise Physiologist

Jodie is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and Sport Scientist with a curiosity for first-principles, across both clinical and high performance settings.

Jodie acted as a facilitator for biomechanics at the University of Sydney. She has developed a deep appreciation for understanding movement from the ground up, analysing how forces, joint mechanics, and neuromuscular control interact to inform prescription choices and movement pattern augmentation. This is reinforced by her extensive experience with swim coaching, strengthening her ability to assess and individualise movement corrections and progressions. She has a strong understanding of injury mechanisms, prevention and rehabilitation.

Clinically, she holds experience working with individuals living with Parkinson’s disease, and mental health rehabilitation programs. She prioritises patient centered and evidence based care with a focus on emphasising education, autonomy, and long-term engagement alongside measurable functional outcomes. She believes in understanding patients both physically and psychologically, with a commitment to learning in order to provide accurate and potent exercise prescription.
